Artwork in Dominican Republic

On my last visit to the Dominican Republic, I bought a beautiful painting. Now that I have it at home in a nice frame, I have been looking at it and wondering what the painting means. I bought it because I loved the look of it, but never thought about what the symbols could mean. Does anyone know where I could possibly find some information about symbols used in Dominican or Haitian artwork?

This might help narrow the field a little on the artwork I am asking about. I know that it is Taino art, the symbols are the same as other Taino paintings I have seen. I am just wondering if there is anywhere to find out what the symbols mean. Thanks!

naskapi, play around with Google and you will get a lot of info on symbols. For example, start with Taino art+symbols.
