Simon - I think with YOUR luck at attracting all these different species, it is time to set up an insect museum of some sort!! Find another house to live in but turn what you have into a natural history museum, invite all the natural history programme specialists in & earn yourself a fortune!!

Sorry, can't advise what's best for getting rid of scorpions though!! Thought HB mentioned somethying about a big Bee being able to knock one of those out on a thread the other day .... do a search on "Scorpions" & you might find what HE (the great curmudgeon) had to suggest! - Grahame.

to avoid any nasty surprises, don't go to sleep b-4 killing the darn thing. just put on some work boots, throw a tower over the animal and start stomping away like you were crushing grapes or trying to do a russian dance while drunk...good luck and don't get stung.

get a couple of chickens or other poultry for your yard. they should help keep the insect population in check. plus you get eggs....

Feel (carefully!) in your shoes before you put them on in the morning. I had "scorpion training" in the Sahara desert - we were told they climb into dark places & can surprise you in the morning. We captured one, put it in matchbox & it travelled with us across Sahara, until one day we hit a big bump.....and noticed an empty matchbox. Never seen 6 people evacuate a LandRover so quickly!

I can remember one morning waking up early about 5:30 (still dark) getting out of bed and putting my foot into my nice warm slipper, that's when I had discovered that It was being occupied by a very large slippery black Spider......scarred the living crap out of me, fortunately for me It must have Scarred the living crap out of him as well........So I have now a very bad habit of shaking my shoes vigorously before I attempt to put them on.
