Well, it is now official. Johnsr & his lovely wife Joanne gave their daughter Christina away today to John Baronoski at the Corel Merien hotel in Puerto Plata.

Johnsr & Joanne have been visiting the Corel Merien for many years now (at least twice a year) & we have been privaledged to welcom them to our home quite a few times, so it was with great pleasure that we accepted their kind invitation to be present at the wedding & join the numerous fiends & aquaintences from The US of A plus a couple or three renegades from DR1, namely Patrick (Badpiece), Aftab (AZB) with their respective girlfriends of the day, Charlie (chuckuindie) with Tonya, AND Jess (andrea9k). Martin Espinall, who has been a regular driver for John over the years & is known by many DR1'ers, was there also as guest, with his beautiful 15 year old daughter who put us all to shame with her excellent English!! For those who have used Martin's services in the past, you might be pleased to know that he is starting up his own 'Tour Company'. I hope to be sending him a lot of business from now on!!

I am pleased to report that the weather remained good for us although both Johns & myself would have prefered a little more cooling breeze due to the fact that we had FULL suits on & were extremely HOT. Photos will doubtless follow in due course (from John's camera, AZB's or Charlie's) showing the attractive girls present & the stodgy old men who were accompanying them!!

Congratulations to Christina & John on your wedding. To Johnsr & Joanne Thank you for organising such a good get together & inviting Ginnie & I. We hope that Christina & John will be extremely happy in their married life, following the great example You both have set for them. WE (Ginnie & I) look forward to welcoming THEM down to Puerto Plata in forthcoming years either IN your company or seperately!

Now for tomorrow night's bash at Piergiorgio where we can come dressed a little more civilly for this country & let our hair (those that still have some - unlike me) down. ~ Grahame.

I can ASSURE you it was far from 'COOL' for Johnsr, John (the Groom) myself & a couple of others that turned up in suits .... we were roasting!!! But the day was good & so was the company!! ~ Grahame.

It was a wonderful wedding in a beautiful hotel by the beach. I met Johnsr for the first time but I was not surprised to see what a fine human being he is in real life. Extremely hospitable and easy to get along with everyone. His family also welcomed us and made us feel right at home. The food was delicious and Pier Georgio was irressitable. If I weren't making the video, I would have made a meal out of the shrimp appetizer alone. I ate so much, I think I have gained 10 pounds, my pants we about to split in half from the baCK.
I am sure the pictures will be posted soon and you will all see how much fun we all had. Congraulations to to John's family and especially the bride and groom. I wish them a century of happiness.
Now the question is, when will I get married and to whom? So many wives and yet, so little time to settle down.
AZB.

P.S. with my bad luck, I was able to hit another pothole and destroy my front suspension. The tire blew up, the rim bent, the shock broke and the support to mount the shock also broke. I think I am about 8k pesos down in repairs. :(
hell, it was all worth it and I would do it all over again if I have to. Me no scared of a stinking pothole.

The evening was indeed a great success. The ambience of PierGiorgio is something else & the view over Sosua Bay & stretching westward along past the airport & on to Puerto Plata is fantastic! The Gazeebo, the balconies with tables at each one, the walkways around the clifftop wall, all add to the beauty that is PierGiorgio.

The weather was not as kind to us as the previous day but with waiter service as high as that, plates of food that 'Mysteriously' appeared in front of us every 15 minutes or so, who the heck noticed the weather much?? Quiet, undemanding yet VERY capable guitarist & singer to pass by each table, a good mix of relaxing music in the background when he was not singing & a HUM of excited & happy conversation kept us all going from 6.00 pm until goodness knows what time! I remember getting home at 11.30 but then there are one or two potholes on that road to watch out for!!!

Anyone looking to organise some tours/excursions into the touristy area (Jarabacoa, Samana, Rio San Juan, Paradise Island etc) could do a lot worse then asking Martin to take on this responsibility. I had the pleasure of sitting at the meal table with he & his No. 1 daughter (as beautiful as No. 2 but 17 this one & has left school to help Pappi in the business). Talk in Spanish, English, French & German continued unabated all night long (helping to allow a greater amount of food enter our bodies than we are all used to!!) & the ideas that man has ..........!! Customer care, happiness & service are his main criterior in setting up his business & BOY, does it show through!! I stopped & had a chat with his driver & guide for the evening & BOTH followed his lead in this respect!!

Thank you Johnsr & Joanne for allowing us to particpate in this wonderous two days festival, & THANKS also for introducing so many of your friends to the DR. From what I can gather from wandering around the various groups, MANY of them will be returning to holiday here in the future as they enjoyed the time you have shown them!! ~ Grahame

I loved it!!!

Even when Charlie, Tania and I had to come back to our respective duties today (i went directly to my office around 11:30 am) I had a wonderful time. It was my first wedding in a beach -actually, it was in a gazebo right beside the beach, i forgot to use sunblock both days and now i can only see my eyes and teeth in the mirror... cool :knockedou

I loved to meet Johnsr's family, Joanne is a treasure, I think I can have her and her sister as witnesses I am not a mute as some people here say ;) The bride... what a bride! she looked like tan Barbie... so precious! OH! Joanne told me John prints out interesting things about DR1 and DR1ers, so watchout what u write guys!!!

I had the pleasure to meet Grahamme and Ginnie, what a couple! i never thought a couple of brits could be so funny and could dance this dirty dancing, i saw you guys at Piergiorgio's.. you have to teach me Ginnie!!! I hope next time, we have the chance to talk more.

Aftab and Patrick... the bad guys in action! I loved Joanne taking pictures of the table of the bad guys (Aftab, Patrick and Charlie) and the table of the good girls (Rosy -Pat's-, Cesarina -Aftab's-, Tania -Charlie's- and of course, the best, Jess! :bandit: )

Patrick looks a nice guy, he is a bad piece as his handle name suggests, but is a cool bad piece. Rosy was way out of control last night, you have to get a new whip... uhm... did she ask you to marry her yet?

Aftab was playing the joke machine -oh surprise!-, shooting a hundred jokes per minute as always. Well, this time he had to share his time for jokes, shooting fotos and doing the video man too ... OH and playing the toy hubby to Cesarina too!!!

Yesterday the bad guys took the good girls to Rocky's in Sosua just before dinner at Piergiorgio's, there I met Rocky, that skinny canuck, terror of the good girls 1000 miles round. He showed me the bar, and specially his batteries lab... I suspect he needs a witness to support his conclusions in his batteries related threads. I also had the honor to ride his famous rockymobile!!! cool machine!.

I think I am not forgetting a DR1er on the party. Once again, congratulations to John for having such a lovely family, to Christina and John, best wishes for a long life together.... I loved to meet John, my american dad!! If I can have such a wedding, you can adopt me whenever you want!!! Joanne already loves me, think about it John!!! :D

A Fantastic event

The wedding of John and Christina at the Corel Merien was one of those Dominican moments that will be remembered by all who attended for a lifetime. Romance filled the air as John Sr. led his daughter to the small ocean side gazebo where the wedding vows were taken. Friends and family stood silent under the hot Dominican sun and a crowd of hotel guest gathered from the beach and swimming areas to watch this magical moment. It was if the world stood still for the entire service, all eyes focused on the wedding party. Vocal inspiration was provided by a friend of the bride, and I must say that a few tears of joy were shed.

The bride was absolutely stunning in her white gown and vale, while the groom and father of the bride cut dashing images in there black tux. The mother of the bride, Joanne, dressed in a lovely light blue chiffon outfit looked to be totally in control as she escorted the minister to the gazebo. As well, the bridesmaids and matron of honor, dressed in flowing light green dresses, made the occasion colorful and picturesque.

A few photos can be found here, http://www.pbase.com/chuckuindy/dr_wedding

BushBaby and others have detailed most of the other events so I will end by saying, what a wonderful time. Congratulations to all and my best wishes.

Thanks for the opportunity to watch your great photos from the Coral Marien! (I believe this is the correct spelling). Went there once myself, it's my favorite AI resort.
