Holy hyperinflation Batman!

I can't believe the prices!

MGD at Mountainview was 50 pesos last year, around $1US.
Now they are 90 pesos, close to $3US!

MGD in Hemingway's is 180P.

MGD in Crazy Moon is 195P.

Round of golf is $65US.
Plus caddy, rentals, and drinks it is not cheap.

Taxis are reasonable.
I offer 200P per hour.
I will buy them drinks and food and round up.
Paid 800P for 3 hours yesterday and $20 for 4 hours last night.

Been getting my butt kicked in the casinos too but having a great time anyways.

Adios.

Jimmy, some of us eat things other than rice and beans. Two split chicken breasts in the Supermarket cost me 178 pesos. 6 pack of presidente 180 pesos. Man it is getting expensive to live here. I just returned from NY and it is cheaper to live there believe it or not! This was a shock.

I may have to move to NYC to save some money!

My meal didn't include beer. Pasta was 60 pesos, meat 68 pesos, cheese and I made a tray of baked Ziti!

This new price structure is not an accident. It of course started with Mejia and it is accelerating with Fernandez. What is happening is that the entire DR economy is transformning into a de-facto dollarized economy.

The DR economy is for those with US$. The pricing of goods and services are geared for those (like you) that have a US$ income and are used to paying US prices.

Those of you who live on a DR$ income...well...you are now officially in-significant. That was the plan all along...Mejia, Fernandez and their *friends from abroad* have accomplished their task nicely, thank you.

What abot the poor people, the masses?

Once they realize their situation, they will change their friendly, smiling faces to angry ones and start taking things in their own hand. The whole thing is a move into the wrong direction.

Ready to pack!

After 7 months of surviving here with a small income from the sale of my business I finally found a job. I accepted what a great offer, in dollars. It seemed like the right thing to do. Well, 2 months ago I was fine. Now, my rent (in pesos) is more than it was in Miami. My electric is 4X what it was in Miami. Food, I can't even keep track of it. I had 2 burger combos at Provocon today, 337 pesos! $11 for 2 burger combos? I love this place, but thing are getting out of control.

I haven't met anyone who is doing better since the Leonel took office.

Wait a second, are we saying bring back Meija? LOL!!!

That's pretty selfish, but, then again, so is driving up prices for a country still dominantly struggling to get by. The poor get it from both ends.

Anyone know if the price of rental chicas has gone up too?

Only problem there is that I would have to live in Santiago! Jesus man there is only so much of Lazb anyone can take ya know!

seriously... 2.5 months ago I got 45-48 pesos for a buck. Price of a 6 pack of presidente was 150. Now not only do I get 50% less for my US $ but Presidente went up 20%. Whats up with that crap?

I may have to move to London to save some money here soon.

Things are a lot cheaper in Canada too. Last weekend I went shopping and a "Full" and I mean "Full" cart including some meat, veggies, fruit and even a 6 pack of Molson's and a big jar of mixed nuts cost 160.00 that's about 3200.00 pesos. Potaoes and carrots: .99 ea. for 10 lb. bags etc. for the same price you get a couple of bags of crappy vegetables and "better not be to much meat" at Playero's.

Are prices to high, or is the peso to low?

For me exchange rate went from 48 to 1 to 32 to 1 and even lower. I lost 50% right there. 6 pack of Presidente went from 150 pesos to 180 pesos so I lost another 20% again.

I am not a big drinker as many here will attest to but I couldn't help but notice some of the prices. Barcelo Imperial went from 276 Pesos (5.50 at the time) to 572 pesos which is close to 18 bux. I sure look like a drunk I guess.

Eggs went from 85 cents a dozen to almost 175 a dozen also.

London better get ready for me. I can afford London more than the DR at this point.
