I entered the DR in mid-April on a tourist visa. I am leaving this Friday to go to Ft lauderdale for 3 days. Can anyone tell me how much I should expect to pay when departing Las Americas?

A person I know entered at the beginning of June and left last weekend. Had to pay RD$250 exit fee. So I imagine it shouldn't be much more than that...

Here's the list from her post:
Migration is authorized to charge:

15 days to 3 months: RD$150
3 months to 9 months: RD$250
9 months to 12 months: RD$300
1 year to 1-1/2 years: RD$400
1-1/2 year to 2 years: RD$500
2 years to 2-1/2 years: RD$600
2-1/2 years to 3 years: RD$700
3 years to 3-1/2 years: RD$800
3-1/2 years to 4 years: RD$900
4 years to 4-1/2 years: RD$1,000
4-1/2 years to 7 years: RD$1,500
More than 7 years: RD$2,000

Last time I left I overstayed 30 days and they charged me $10 USD. If I am charged a ridiculus amount like $80 is complaining the way to go?

From the list work out how much you owe and take the right money, don?t ask just give them the right amount.

I left for two weeks in September and did exactly this, there were a few raised eyebrows but they didn?t ask me for any more.

Enjoy your trip.

Get nice and loud and swear all you want in English. Don't even try to say anything in Spanish. Take the exact change and show him that you don't have any other money on you. If you make enough noise you shouldn't have any problems... ;)

They aren't going to ask for $80 even if they are angling for a bribe so don't get ahead of the game. I bet they want $10 when you owe them about $8. Bring RD$250, hand it to the clerk in the tax cage and then you are set.

I was pleased to see that the exit-fees are now clearly posted at each desk and all over the immigration area. I did pay 250 pesos.

What a concept they came up with; signs. :cross-eye

The wind of change...
