Well, I read in a number of papers that the President had sent a condolence letter to the governments of countries suffering, but it didn't say anything about financial/aid contributions.

What is the official DR Contribution to the relief effort?

Do you expect contributions from Sri Lanka, India, Thailand and Indonesia when a hurricane hits the DR?
Get real, these are all third world countries we are talking about. The DR has it's own problems to deal with.

It's not a competition!

Just make a fuc*ing donation and leave the bashing alone. Or shall we talk about the size of each countries donation per head of capita?

Stop being tight - give more - do what your president tells you! - Let's wait 'til later to see who were the most generous!

you can hardly expect the DR to give anything considering their economy, but maybe Hippo and group could donate some of their cash. By the way, Canada also forgave debt of around $600,000,000 in Indonesia and Sri Lanka.
I think that the American efforts are great and as usual disapointed with the reponse of the Arab countries whose religion professes to show charity and compassion.

Dominican Buddhists ARE collecting.

Those people who think nothing is happening in the DR with regard to tsunami relief, may have wondered who the people were collecting in Santo Domingo supermarkets. They are the Fundacion Tsu Chi of Taiwan, who have been established in DR for about 5 years. This is a Buddhist outreach organisation. Collectors are wearing a 'uniform' & carrying ID. Collections will continue Tuesday & Wednesday.

The phone numbers of 3 of the Buddhists are in the article, so if people wanted to contact them they could, without needing to read Spanish!
