Boxing in D.R.

One of my hobbies here in NYC has been covering boxing matches for a website. I am a big fan of the sport (have 1,000's of fights on tape) and was wondering if anyone knew anything about the boxing scene in D.R. I know of a few of the fighters who hail from D.R. but wanted to know if there were ever big matches held there, where, and if anyone knows of a boxing gym in the Santiago area.

Bienvenido Solano is president of the Dominican Boxing Federation and there are gyms is almost any city.
Snatiago is supposed to be a hotbed for boxing and they hold fight nights quite frequently. However, I do not keep up with the sport.

But, yes, there is boxing in Santiago.
