Any advice on a good doctor for my son. He's had a rash for about 2 weeks now and the medicine he's been prescribed doesn't seem to be clearing up the rash. This is the second doctor he's seen and they don't seem to know what's up.

I have taken my children to Dr. Fernando Albaine in Puerto Plata Clinic - Bournigal Tel: 586 2342. This Doctor was recommended to me by several friends. He speaks English too. Hope your son gets better soon - please let me know if I can help in any way.

If you can make the trip to Santiago there is a very good Hospital called "La Coromina". There is also a Childrens Hopital in Santiago, I can't remember the name... Neither of these are public hospitals, wich is a plus.

There is a dermatology clinic in Puerto Plata, it's called Instituto Dermatologico de la Piel, or something like that. My girlfriend had serious skin problems with her children and was very satisfied with the results. She had gone to Bournegal previously, but the problems persisted. - D

thanks for the info

We are taking our son to Santo Domingo. As luck would have it, I have a doctor in the family, a cousin, and he is personally going to take my son to a specialist he knows. I will know more later today.

Since you are in Santiago

Go to the Cl?nica Corominas and see Dr. Robinson Abreu. He took care of my kids, just about the whole brood. (For those that don't know, we have four and "cri?mos " 7 more). Corominas also has three or four excellent dermatologists.

Don't sweat it, kid's rashes are not too serious.

FYI: The Hospital de Ni?os Dr. Arturo Grull?n is located down by the Baseball Stadium and is a public facility, although is is supported by one heck of a good Patronato....

Only a thought Santanatwins, as I went through the same thing with my child, Dr's didn't know the cause of a rash.

It is possible that either the soap you are using to bathe your son in is too strong for his skin, OR the detergent used for washing clothes is either too strong, or there is too much detergent being used to wash and there is a residue left in his clothes. Either will cause an unknown rash, and both are common here in DR.

We switched to Johnson Baby soap in the tub, and 1/2 the recommended detergent for the baby clothes, and "poof" - no more skin rash, and NO MORE MEDICINES.

Until you get to a doctor, try oatmeal. Let it air dry on the area and rinse. It works wonders.
