I am going to be going to POP in feb. and My girlfirend and I are interested in doing some hiking. I am a horticulturalist (plants) and my girlfriend is an ornithologist (birds) and are interested in going to areas around POP that will have a high diversity of plants and birds that are native to the island. I have heard that iguanamama is one of the best for guiding tours around that area. I am looking for some feedback on what other people have heard or experienced from iguanamama. Also, are there any other reputable tour companies that will guide hikes, mountain bikes around the North Coast/nature viewing?

Thanks Fireguy! I love it when someone else recommends the plantation.

That being said : I highly recommend Iguana Mama. They do excellent work and offer great tours!!! However they are in Cabarete which is a bit of a distance from Puerto Plata! But, Iguana Mama will arrange your transportation and everything for you.
