Road from San Francisco to Nagua

My first post! :nervous: Am a long-time lurker and have found this site incredibly useful, so thank you all!

On the way back to Santo Domingo from Samana just after Christmas, the bridge near Nagua on the San Francisco road had been washed away (or was at least underwater). Am heading back up in that direction in a couple of weeks, does anyone know if this road is now passable?

Katharine, I can't answer based on observation of that particular bridge, but based on my 19 years living here and seeing other bridges washed away, including on the same highway, I can tell you that the road is pasable. One way or another they will have fixed up an alternate route by this time.

Glad you have come out of the closet.

New Bridge Being Built

A new bridge is being built and when I passed that way several weeks ago there was a temporary bridge in use right next to the new bridge's construction.
