Among those who participated in the DANR Congressional Day were Congresswoman Donna Christian-Christiensen (D-VI), Congressman James Langevin (D-RI), Congressman Robert Menendez (D-NJ), the office of Congressman Charles Rangel (D-NY), Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Congressman Steve Rothman (D-NJ), Congressman Jerry Weller (R-IL), Senator Hilary Rodham Clinton (D-NY), Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), The U.S. Department of Commerce, and The White House.* The new Dominican Ambassador to the U.S., Flavio Dar?o Espinal, also gave greetings during the breakfast portion of the DANR Congressional Day.

?We are very pleased with the Congressional breakfast and series of meeting we hosted in our nation?s capital,? said Cid Wilson, President of the DANR.* ?We communicated the importance of proposing and supporting legislations that are pro-Dominican and consistent with the DANR Guiding Principles.* In addition, we were very encouraged by level of support by these and other officials for DANR-sponsored programs and our flagship event, the DANR 8th Annual National Conference which will be held in Boston, MA this October.?

?The breakfast was well attended and we were well received in Washington, D.C. for our Congressional Day,? said Josefina Infante, 1st Vice President of the DANR.* ?The Dominican population continues to grow in the U.S. and our presence as a community requires increased attention from all branches of the Federal government.* We would like to thank everyone who helped make this a successful day in our nation?s capital.?
