You could search on the countless posts on doctors or post this in the general section as this section is for posting about things already known to be good not to ask questions about them.

What are you looking for? General practioner? Specialist? If the latter, what specialties?

Generally speaking, the best specialists are in Santiago and Santo Domingo, though I do have a super specialist in respiratory ailments in Puerto Plata.

No I didn't - there are a LOT of posts on the subject of doctors in a lot of cities and a search would have found those, not that anyone bothers anymore to even try. Her is but one example searching on doctor sosua in the search box. (There were pages and pages of results) See how easy it is to not ask what's been answered? Go be a Busybody where you have a clue.

My Diminican girlfriend said I should to to Dr. Quinoz in Charamicos, but of course I, the New York Jew, decided to go to Servi-Med where the gringos go, and the doctor is German, etc. Long story short, after two days of bungled treatment at Servi-Med where they showed absolutely no competence, I went to Dr. Quiroz. By that time I had swelled up like a grapefruit, and he had to shoot me up with drugs and drain my infection. He repeated the treatment again the following morning right before I left town. Quick, effecient, no bullshit, knew exactly what to do (while Servi-Med just scratched their heads and wrote prescriptions)

Paddy, there are a few things they do here to keep this place from turning into an all out riot... the one is to keep 'like' subjects together. There are some 'forum rules' posted on each of the forums and if you stick around, you'll soon get straight with all of these. There is also a wealth of information here and the search function works well. Remember not to search on 3 letter words, i.e., a search for 'car' won't work, but if you try 'vehicle' you may just get the information you need.

The GP I trust the most, is Dr. Gideon (Don't know his last name) in Cabarete. He operates the Servi Med clinic there, and if he can't handle the problem, he always knows the best specialists to send you to.

Dr. Gideon Plaut. I agree with Rocky that he is the best in this area.

I'll third that vote, any of the doctors working in the Medi-Center in Cabarete are reliable in my opinion and experience.

Stay well,
Amy

Hi! The Doctors at the Puerta Plata Bournigal Clinic saved my life 2 years ago when my kidneys failed due to a very rare disease. 75 doctors work out of there. Tel No. 586-2342. Another Clinic is the Gregorio Hernandez Clinic, Tel No. 586-1166. Hope this is of some help. Canadian Bob.

Clinic Bournigal also gets my thumbs up, my father was treated there for a stroke and we were comfortable enough to keep him there for 5 days before transferring him to Florida for additional tests.
