Not as of last Saturday. Since this is entirely a revenue generating measure, I doubt that they will revoke it any time soon.

and now the international luggage to all locations IS back to 70lbs!

I'd love to know WHY THEY REALLY :cross-eye DID IT!

???

Does any one know if the 70# limit applies if you are making connecting flights. We need to fly from home to Miami then POP. All on one ticket, but two different flights. ARe they going to nail us because we are over 50# on the domestic leg of the trip.

I'm confused. I just flew JetBlue and was told that they had changed theirs to 50 pounds to go into effect in about two weeks from this day. I suppose if AA went back to 70....JetBlue would have to follow suit.

They probably got tired of all us Dominicans removing 20lbs of stuff from suitcases at the check-in counter and delaying everyone ;)

I just checked AA.com and the 50 pound rule is still "in effect". If you want to take luggage weighing more than 50 and less than 70 pounds, then you'll need to pay $25. If your suitcase is 70-100 pounds, then an additional $50 fee is required.

Just reporting what I just read on AA.com.

from aa.com, today 23 April, 2005

For flights to international destinations

2 pieces checked and one carry-on
Please note that one carry-on personal item (see "Carry-on Allowance") does not count toward the free bag allowance.

The size limitation of your luggage is calculated by adding the total outside dimensions of each bag, that is, length + width + height.

Two checked bags at 62 in/157 cm each
One carry-on bag at 45 in/114 cm
The maximum "free" weight per checked bag is 70 lbs/32 kgs

LOL Dont doubt a bit that it was the situation. For Jetblue you can take 70 pounds up to May 1 (next Sunday) But they will only take it if their is enough space on the aircraft. So its like a grace period. Starting may 1 is 50 if u bring more either pay or bting a large bag and start taking out.
