The Westin Roco Ki Beach and Golf Resort Breaks New Ground in the Dominican Republic

The first North American branded resort in the Dominican Republic, The Westin Roco Ki Beach & Golf Resort is set to open in November 2006.

The resort will be managed by Westin Hotels & Resorts, the upscale brand of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. The property is owned by Macao Beach Resort, Inc., a subsidiary of Geostar, Inc. which has tourism investments worldwide.

The luxurious resort will be located on the eastern shores of the Dominican Republic near Punta Cana adjacent to the silky white sands of Macao Beach. It will offer 315 guest accommodations (most with ocean views), including 20 spacious air-conditioned Jungle Luxe Bungalows, and 56 two and three bedroom luxury condo units. Guests will also enjoy a multitude of world class amenities including an 18-hole championship Nick Faldo Signature Golf Course, The Spa at Westin Roco Ki, seven restaurants, seven elegant lounges and bars, a gourmet market, six tennis courts, six swimming pools, an aquatic sports complex, marina and over three miles of magnificent white-sandy beach.

The resort is taking great care to achieve a harmonious balance between luxurious comfort for guests and the diversity of environments on the property ? ocean, wetlands, tropical forests, mangroves, cliffs and rolling hills. The property will feature architecture and exhibits honoring the ancient Taino culture. So it is fitting that a resort that achieves such cultural and ecological balance should be named Roco Ki, which in the Taino language means ?honoring the land?.

The most memorable rooms at the resort will be the Jungle Luxe Bungalows which appear to float over the water on man-made lakes, many with panoramic views of the ocean. These exotic, luxury bungalows celebrate the historical heritage of the site and are the embodiment of the spiritual, tranquil and romantic ambiance that the resort will bring to guests.

All resort guestrooms will be outfitted with Westin Hotels & Resorts? signature Heavenly Bed?, the epitome of luxury bedding replete with a sumptuous pillow top mattress, high-thread count sheets, down duvet and down pillows. Guests will also have the pleasure of ?a shower experience that is out of this world? with the resort?s Heavenly Bath? which consists of custom-designed dual showerheads with a choice of spray options from light mist to massaging needles; amenities which feature plush bathrobes, oversized Brazilian combed cotton bath sheets and invigorating bath products. All guest accommodations will also come equipped with two dual-line speaker phones with voice mail, high speed Internet access, oversized work desk, coffee maker with complimentary Starbucks? coffee, and in-room refreshment center.

Golfers will be exhilarated by the resort?s 18-hole championship Nick Faldo Signature Golf Course, which will comprise a multitude of golfing environments that any connoisseur of the sport would appreciate, including spectacular cliffside and ocean view holes set amidst a tropical mangrove forest and challenging lake, marsh and lagoon water hazards. The course will be managed by renowned golf management experts, Troon Golf.

Adults and children will enjoy the fun of the resort?s many other exciting outdoor activities such as daily diving, fishing and sailing excursions from the marina; swimming in the warm waters on the beach; stunning nature walks through the mangroves; climbing walls; and access to the Watersports Center, which will offer a variety of services including snorkeling and rental of motorized and non-motorized aquatic sports equipment. There will also be a two-story, 2,700 square foot Activity Center that will house a Westin Kids Club?, arts and crafts rooms, game arcade, movies, lecture hall and evening entertainment.

The resort will have 20,000 square feet of versatile state-of-the-art meeting and conference space in 14 different rooms, the largest accommodating over 700 persons. All public and function space areas will have wireless Internet. Special outdoor venues with beautifully designed landscapes and stunning views will also be available.

For those who just cannot get enough luxurious pampering, the resort will offer the services of The Spa at The Westin Roco Ki Beach and Golf Resort, which will encompass 18,000 square feet, featuring 15 treatment rooms; a meditation area; separate cardio, yoga and styling salons; steam and sauna amenities; a fitness boutique; and separate men?s and women?s dressing areas. The spa will offer a variety of treatments such as aroma therapy, body wraps, facial and body skin treatments, hydrotherapy, massage, and nail care that incorporate the rejuvenating methods and natural ingredients indigenous to this tropical region.

The resort?s dining facilities will include an all-day dining restaurant serving Mediterranean-Spanish-style fare; an upscale Italian Trattoria; a delightful Nuevo-Latino specialty restaurant; the Golf Clubhouse Grill, which will serve light fare; Lobby Lounge for refreshing beverages; Quarry Bar & Grill for casual dining; and the Poolside Bar & Grill for Caribbean cuisine, Activity Center Caf?, The Market Place for snacks, beverages and sundries and a Marina grab-n-go.
