The rate is US$18 from Boca Chica to/from the airport PER TAXICAB including the mini vans. If they get you there in one piece and/or know the way (especially to Boca Chica) pay $20.

Go with what these guys are telling you

This is absolutely the best advice you will get.

You will have a much better time.

He has to answer "Bainte" Or "Bainte sinko" (20 or 25)

I must respectively disagree. You ask he will tell you more than the rate ( or whatever he thinks you will pay) . tell the driver:

"Boca Chica. El precio es dieciocho dollares todavia, verdad? Ya vamos. "

Also unless you are incapable of seeing 10 yards to the queue of 50 cabs skip the helper who wants a dollar or two to take you to what you can plainly see. and keep your hands on your own luggage and keep the carry on with the camera and money in your lap. If you travel light take it all into the car.

I strongly recommend you ask for a taxi tursitica with the logo on the door vs. the shitbox cars held together with tape you will get in the queue.
