I have a couple of questions regarding email addresses:
First, how would you rattle off an email address in Spanish?
Take "anyuser@dr1.com", for example. In English I would say ?anyuser at dr1 dot com?. How would you say it in Spanish, assuming there is no need to translate ?anyuser?, ?dr1?, or ?com??
Second, how would you explain the email address structure to a Spanish speaker who uses a computer but is not internet savvy? I tried to do that (in Spanglish), with hilarious results. The sticking points were the @ sign and the dot.
Subsequently, using Babelfish online translator, I came up with this:
Mecanografie ?anyuser?,
Mecanografie el simbolo sobre el numero ?dos? en el teclado,
Mecanografie ?dr1?,
Mecanografie periodo el signo de puntuacion,
Mecanografie ?com?,
Todos como una palabra sin espacios.
I?m sure there must be something better. Any suggestions?
