Where's a nice hotel?

Hey all,
I'm thinking of taking a trip to the DR in the fall. I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions about hotels. I've been to Puerto Plata for the past 3 years and i've stayed at the Riu. This year I would like to go to Santo Domingo or near by SD, but i'm not sure which hotel is nice to stay in for 2 weeks. I loved the Riu and i was hoping to find something similar. So if anybody has any suggestions on different hotels i would appreciate it.

If your looking for AI than I'd suggest Sunscapes Casa Del Mar in La Romana-good memories, I've also heard Santana Beach Resort is quite popular too

sorry i read NEARY BY SD.... didn't realize La Romana was outta the question... got your head wrapped around last months sankybanky joke too much buddy...

Stayed their a few months ago. Nice rooms, great price, nice beach, only downside was the food.

How about in SD?

Thanks for the suggestions. La Romana sounds good, are there any good AI hotels in SD? If not i guess La Romana will do.

I've stayed at thr hamaca a few times. I'd recommend it. The casino is a nice option for entertainment instead of the same old shows that the resort puts on every night. Also the hotel itself is very nice. And of course, you can easily go into boca chica itself to find other things, if thats what you are looking for.

I beleive that Boca Chica is the nearest beach to SD..as SD has no beaches!
BC is 30 minutes from SD ...but only 15 minutes from the airport. The tiny little town is rather poor and seedy - particularly at night. However, I have never felt unsafe there. I enjoy the close proximity to SD, the beautiful calm beach water, lively beach atmosphere and the raw Dominican cultural experience. American tourist are seldomly seen here. I've stayed at both the Hamaca & Hotetur Dominican Bay resorts. The Hamaca is a typical deluxe all-inclusive reosrt, I prefer the more casual Hotetur Resort which sits 2 blocks uphill from the beach, but has private, landscaped walkway down to the very lovely beach. Personally, I spend very little time at the resort, mostly i'm at the beach, strolling thru town or in the Big City (SD). I found the beach and food are better at the Hotetur. Actually, I'll be there for 10 days this summer!!!!!

La Romanna is 90 minutes from SD & is your typical relaxing sun-n-sand vacation. If you are looking for a more traditional vacation - this would be it. I've also heard good things about Casa Del Mar & the Dominicus resorts are said to have the areas best beach.
