Population

Government population and up-to-date statistics are hard to come by, if at all. You may want to provide more information of what support you desire of a city. Knowledgeble posters will respond with first hand information.

The following may help you. You may want to keep this in mind, census numbers represents population within a city and will include the population outside of the city limits, but within its governmental jurisdiction. For example, Hig?ey reports a population of 88 thousand, the count includes countryside residents and that of Punta Cana - 45 km distant.

Here is a link with population statistics that may help.

Please tell us what you want to know

There is some information available in university research files.

If you will let us know what you need, perhaps we can steer you in the right direction.

I'm looking for a few suitable villages.Villages with between 15000 and 35000 inhabitants. Not to small but not to big either.

Greetings

Here are a few

But please be aware that the smaller villages also lack many of the "normal" amenities: TV, computer access, water and electricity are much more scarce in these places (with a few exceptions)

Of course, life is slower, but "everybody" will know "everything" about your life.

That said:

Mao, Santiago Rodriguez, Montecristi, Gaspar Hernandez, Jarabacoa, Cotu?, Castillo, Moncion
San Jose de las Matas

Are just a few of them. Some on the coast, some in the valley and some in the mountains.

Take your pick.

Oh please don't forget us!! we may be a bit remote but we have three flights daily to the Capital and a growing ex-pat community from lots of different nations - French, German, Italian, US, Canadian --- a weekly newspaper in four languages, --lots of interesting work to be done - a friendly little town (well, not a "town" but sort of a happening). Don't buy real estate til you have been here a while, though....Or are really certain of the broker!
