The airport is actually about 40 minutes outside Santo Domingo. Are you looking to stay in the city (Santo Domingo) or near the beach? Do you prefer an all-inclusive? What's your budget?

Quality hotel on the main highway close to the airport is not a busy place!! Caters more for businees trip people who stay 1-2 nights. It is dead!! There is nothing to do in the evenings and very very quiet. we did a 1 nighter busines trip recently and sat in the bar all alone all night!
Try somewhere in Boca chica?
Embassy Suites in the Metro Country Club in Juan Dolio is where all our business visitors now stay, but it is 30 minutes from the airport, in the other direction to SD.

Well Hello! Who goes on vacation and stays at the hotel the whole time? He did ask for a hotel close to the airport.

Before we make any more suggestions, I think we ought to wait until we hear from the OP as to what they are actually looking for.

It's strange how they needed an answer ASAP, but they haven't responded to my follow-up questions. I guess ASAP is equivalent to the Dominican ma?ana.:)

busy

The closer to the airport the better it doesn't have to be all inclusive because we're going to be out most of the day anyway.

(Didn't reply cause got a wedding to plan)

See hotels under Santo Domingo. http://dr1.com/directories/index.shtml

If you are close to the airport, you will be away from the city of Santo Domingo.

If your wedding planning centers around Boca Chica or Juan Dolio, then staying near the hotel makes sense.

But if your business takes you to Santo Domingo city, then maybe you should consider a hotel in the city.

It is about a 20-30 minute drive into the city from the airport, depending on the traffic.

I think they must select a hotel in Santo Domingo, they are planning to be the most of time out of the hotel, so the airport is about 30 minutes from the City.
