Im just wondering how easy it is to get food and what the prices will be. Im coming to Puerto plata at the end of october for a few months and just want to know whether there is a place close by that i can get all the stuff i will need for eating etc. Is the food expensive, or reasonably priced?

You can go to the supermarkets like you have back home, POP has a few.
Prices for imported goods are naturally higher.

My suggestion is to use the search function and all your questions will be a answered.

Also take a look in the living section.

I'm not sure what country you are from, but I think food pices in the supermarkets are generally 25% to 50% higher than in the US. The one exception might be chicken.

Whats a 2 liter bottle of coke in the US now? Here in the DR it works out to around $1.50. Funny enough, the price of a 2liter bottle of coke usually represents a 'yard stick' or average price for groceries when comparing to US prices.

So if a 2 liter bottle costs $1.25 in the US, you can figure that its about 20% more expensive here. Obviously this will vary depending on the type of products you buy but this 'yard stick' works when comparing to The Bahamas and some other Caribbean countries.
