Major General Fadul interview appears in the Listin Diario today. The headline is: There are no traffic problems in Santo Domingo. I might be over reacting but my first instinct is this guy should be fired immediately if not yesterday.

It shows how out of touch with everday reality some of the high level Dominican officials are. Like him, many travel with police escorts who clear a path through traffic so they can speed along their merry ways. But this guy is responsible for traffic flow and enforcement. He is fully clueless. Some of his statements: it's not just because I am director of AMET that I say there are no traffic jams in Santo Domingo./The roads sometimes slow down because we lack technology and reliable power./I have been to developed countries and some of them experience traffic jams that last hours/One of our bigger problems occurs when cars break down on the elevated roadways.

Ok, so some of his observations are realistic. But, how can a guy in his position sit for a major interview with no published mentioned of the widespread flouting of traffic laws, the deplorable condition of some of the vehicles that are allowed to circulate, and the crumbling infrastructure? More than anything, he should be made to answer for the outrageous lack of judgment to state that the traffic conditions in Santo Domingo are "bueno"

We haven't heard the last of this interview yet. THe other show is about to drop, hopefully on this guy's apparently empty head.

Several Years ago,When Balaguer Was The Sitting President,

and running again for the Office,he had a long interview in the press. He stated that there was NO racism in the DR.He went on to say that Haitians were not treated poorly by Dominicans, but like "Brothers" because they share an "Island" and a "Common History"!
Dominicans are taught since birth that;It is just as easy to lie, even when the truth will work just as well! Those who take the lesson most to heart, become "Politicians"!
Even in the USA,we say;"How can you tell when a politician is lying?"..........."His lips are moving!" ;)
What all Countries need are fewer "Politicians",and more "Statesmen"!!!!!!!

Or as Goebbels once remarked, 'the bigger the lie the better,' because nobody believes littles lies. Big lies are easier to believe because statesmen wouldn't dare to tell such big lies to the public, therefore it must be true.
