Does anybody know the current rate of interest paid by DR banks, or can anybody give me name and telephone #'s of english speaking bank officers that could help. I am looking for US $ deposits and DR Peso deposits for 30 days and 90 days, amounts between US$ 10K and 100K. Any help would be appreciated.

I work in a bank, send a PM to contact you, rates for 30 days are around 4 to 5% and for 90 days up to 8%

I presume the rates of "4 to 5%" & "up to 8%" quoted are per ANNUM rather than for the varying periods?

I also presume these are US $ or Euro interests rates - what would your RD $ rates be please? Please feel free to PM me (you still owe me a PM from last year I think ;) ) ~ Grahame.

Why would anyone bring $10K-100K into the DR. Are the banks anymore secure than they were a few years back? The advice I got from many people on this board was to keep my money outside of the country and invest in real estate instead.

Just a thought

Perhaps some of the cash that ventures in is not exactly on someones W2!
