Hi,

I am looking to resolve the following:

I am looking for a way to have two Dominican girls become proficient English speakers.

Prior to coming to Europe for a holiday the girls have attended 'officially licensed courses' and 'home teaching classes'.. These classes while relatively cheap have provided almost no result. After looking at the material and visiting the college, I have found both to be severely lacking in quality of education, materials used and teachers employed.

As a result both girls were unable to communicate on their visit to Europe in anything but Spanish, which in my opinion severely impacted their experience in socialising with friends and family..

As things stand now they are likely to come for more vists and I would like for both to have a working knowledge of English at that time. After giving it some thought I came up with the following alternatives:

1) Send them to university courses (in Peurto Plata) to attend a course there
2) Send them to a native English speaking, private tutor who will tutor them 3-4 times a week in the Gaspar Hernandes to Peurto Plata range.

I would like to receive feedback on the following:

1) What is the feasibility, likely outcome, cost and duration of 1) and 2), or a referral where I could find out about this.
2) If you read this post and feel qualified to execute option 2) please send me a PM.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to this.

Regards,

CM

There is an exellent language school in Puerto Plata. It's called Impact. I don't have the address, but it's very well known. I was very impressed by the results after a few weeks of classed. In my opinion, private lessons are much less effective. - D
