Will immigration give me grief if i live in DR? Can I come and go without a hassle? Do I pay the government to stay/live in DR? I am an American by birth, but hold a passport from Jamaica as a naturalized citizen of Jamaica. I do not hold a U.S. passport. I have a U.S. birth certificate.

Do some searching here first about residency and tourist cards and overstaying etc. Tip: For travelling generally get your US Passport.

Tourist Card (issued on arrival). No photos required.

Further extensions possible.
Note: Tourist Card not required if born in Dominican Rep.
As far a living "hassle free" in the DR, technically you are supposed to apply for residency, but there are many people living there (although they probably don't own property or work) that haven't applied for residency.

As the previous poster suggested, do a search to find more specific info.
