With all of the automobiles damaged by water from Katrina and soon to be so by Rita our newspapers are full of info about how to detect water damage. Of course these autos are to be sold for parts only in the states.
Did many of the damaged vehicles from Andrew in '92 find their way from south Florida to the D R?

This is a big business. As you know you can get these cars for next to nothing here in The US...but they will have a salvage tittle. They expor them to The DR where they get a new clean tittle, thorough inspection and sold as if nothing ever happened to them. You may use services like carfax to see if a car has substained any damage, but even that may not give you the full story as it takes a little while for such events to show up in the history of a vehicle and by then you may have already bought it.
