Always remember that you are unique, SPECIAL...

JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE!

Actually it's a good resume, now if you're willing to work for under 500/mo (since you are not a CPA) you may just get a job, and possibly work your way up from there.

In fact 3 weeks ago I might have hired you myself.

The DR is overflowing with acountants from what I can tell. They would all line behind the dentists to get jobs as cashiers and filing clerks if anyone was hiring.

I'm not just looking for an accoutant position. I'm looking for something that would be a perfect fit, whether, it's as an accountant, an executive assitant or in the hospitality sector. I just want to utilize my skills and perfect my spanish. I realize it will not be an easy task to find employment in DR, but I have the determination and desire to live in DR and find a job, even if that means I have to start from the bottom and work myself up. I have to start somewhere.

Thank you for the heads up, in regards to how accountants are overflowing in DR. It just gives me an idea of what kind of positions I should look for.

Statistically speaking, it is practically insane to come to the DR looking for work right now. (unless you arecoming from Haiti or some other country in worse condition)

And your chances of getting a job from posting on the internet are probably less than you winning the state lottery.

Right now the country is recovering from a real financial beating, and while there are alot of people out there preaching that we are on "the road to recovery" there is very little evidence of this on the street - actually there is evidence to the contrary as businesses are closing right and left.

As far as I can remember, I've been hearing the same things about DR; it's a bad place to live, no work, no light, no water. I just want to know when is a good time to move there. Besides, right now, jobs are difficult to find everywhere, even here in the U.S.

The best time to move is when you feel you are ready for it. It´s all about you. DR will not change, not the culture, not the good, nor the bad.
Jobs ARE hard to find here, unless you´ll go into telemarketing.
Even tourism is dead until the peak season starts again, right now hotels are closing, excursion companies are in no need for staff etc.
Accountants are more available than there is demand, and most companies would require knowlegde of DR book keeping/tax laws and standards etc.

The most important though, is that finding jobs here is based on contacts first of all, and everything is pretty mounth-to-mouth.
You will have no luck finding work on the internet, you need to be here and see people, meet people and present yourself.
You will not have a job before moving here, you will have to do things reverse.. i.e move, settle and then look for work.

All the best of luck to you!

Difficult in the US?? If you are so willing to relocate I don't think jobs in the US are hard to find, maybe is my reality only but there are more jobs I can take at a time. Wish I had a clone!!!

Jobs in Santo Domingo

I am the Branch Manager of a US based mortgage company in East Santo Domingo. I am always looking for quality people to work as mortgage loan officers. This is largely a commission based job as are most mortgage jobs, but with the right attitude and determination you can earn a very nice income- upwards of 100,000RD monthly. If Santo Domingo is on your list of possible places- let me know.
