Torn off the front page in DR1...

For those of us in the area this is is not new information but I expect the upper crust will enjoy the event below.

Michelle Jimenez at the Theater
The entire Washington Ballet company is coming to the Dominican Republic next week and will be performing Septime Webre's Carmen, George Balanchine's Serenade and Twyla Tharp's Nine Sinatra Songs at the National Theater on 21 and 22 October. Dominican audiences will be able to pay homage to prima ballerina Michelle Jimenez. Tickets can be purchased at the National Theater. For more events, see http://www.dr1.com/calendar

Here is more information on Michelle. http://washingtonballet.org/mj.htm

On a positive note, I hope that this will also go a long way to changing Dominican perceptions of US Dominicans and I am sure Michelle will perform wonderfully as usual. On a negative side, I don't want to know how much it is costing to do this venture and all the children it could have educated instead.

Enjoy!

Usually, events held at the theater donate something to local charities.

It would be odd if this one does not.

That's not what I was refering, but it would be best if I leave things well enough alone.

Just do your part to go and encourage people to turn out. Enjoy the presentation.
