Purchasing wood / timber in the DR

Good Evening,
Currious if any of you out there can help with my search for buying hardwood here in the country. Santo Domingo ?, Santiago ?, or if there is anything - anywhere on the north coast ?.

I hear that trying to import from anywhere turns out to be frustrating and costly.

I've seen and visited a fairly large lumber yard on Kennedy (right side going Northbound)... along where all the ferreterias are. On that very quick visit (bad timing, they were closing) I got under the impression that it was rather expensive (?) but at that time my mind was also set on Guyacan (for electrical musical instrument buildng... steel guitars mainly ;) and they didn't have much of it).
