I am sure this question has been asked and answered already, but I cannot find it. Will I be able to convert american express travelers cheques to DR Pasos in Cabarete.

Yes, although the exchange rate is slightly lower than cash.

You can but to pesos.

I found some cambios gave the same or even better for cheques. You will need your passport at the time, eventually they settle for a photocopy once they know you. If you have under $1000 and a safe in the room ,skip it and bring US cash.
