Re: Barcelo bavaro Palce vs Barcelo Beach vs Jack

Bavaro Beach and Bavaro Palace are both hotels at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort. The only difference is their location within the resort. The other 3 hotels are the Bavaro Golf, Bavaro Garden, and Bavaro Casino. No matter which you stay at, you can still visit the other 4 as they are all part of the same resort complex, with no borders or definition to tell you where one ends and the next begins. However, if you are not staying at the Palace, you are not allowed to use their pool and if you are on the all-inclusive plan, the food and drink at the Palace are not included. Basically, all the other resort facilites are shared. The Palace has slightly nicer rooms, a slightly prettier pool, and slightly better food. I say slightly. You will be pressed to tell the difference.

The beach and pool facilites at the Bavaro Beach Resort complex is superior to any of the Playa Dorada hotels. However, the Playa Dorada hotels, Jack Tarr being sometimes touted as the best but still a matter of opinion, offers a much larger variety of night life and out-of-the-resort activites.

If your emphasis is on pool and beach, go to Punta Cana. If your emphasis is on night-life and out-of-resort activities, go to Playa Dorada. Both have nice pools and beaches, but Bavaros are better. Both offer night life, but Bavaro's is limited to a single disco with a couple other options not far away outside the resort while you have all off Puerto Plata, Sosua, Cabarete, and the other Playa Dorada hotels nearby if you stay at Jack Tarr.

Punta Cana, the location of the Bavaro Beach Resort complex is somewhat remote so out-of-resort activities are limited or require several hours of travel while Jack Tarr is centrally located within 2 hours of the entire north coast and the city of Santiago.
