What are they then? They kinda take the shine off the deal - cheapest ticket ends up costing $150. Bargain? :tired:

Of course it's a bargain. The taxes and fees are always there, regardless of the cost of the ticket. The only way they could make it much cheaper would be to pay the fees for you! Why would they do that? I have to say I'm really surprised to see bargain fares to the DR this time of year. They would only do this if they have a lot of empty seats.

They are starting that route in 11/10. I think maybe that is the reason.

They have been all over the news here in the states over the past few days, people going nuts on these fares. I just wish they flew into POP

I'm totally disappointed too.I worked for Spirit less than a year ago and there were talks of expanding to Central/South America, so I was like "Well no where I'd liked to go, I'm out of here." and now they are all over the Caribbean and I'm kicking myself.
Probability of flying into POP little to no chance:ermm: , it would not be a good move just because most of the tourism going into POP is Canadian or European.
