Getting glasses in Santiago or POP?

I wonder if there are any drugstores or "tiendas" where one can simply try glasses with different magnification without going to an ophthalmologist.
I could get glasses easily in DrugMart in Canada and also in my native country Argentina, but here it seems I need to get a prescription first.

If any of you know a place when I can buy glasses directly I would appreciate knowing where it is the place.

Thanks in advance,
Ben

I don't know about finding them in pharmacies, but they do sell them at opticians.
I have seen them at "Montura" 247-4494, in Santiago.

In Puerto Plata, try Optica Oviedo, Pedro Clisante 67 809-970-0906- they provide a free eye exam and have reading glasses from 300 pesos up. Joanne

In Santiago, there is a little optometry place just up the street from the Clinica Corominas where I have bought several pairs of reading glasses. Dirt cheap, too.

Also, Optica Cibao on the Avenida Metropolitana has them...

The next travel to Santiago I will try the optics you mentioned there, but first I will go the the POP place.
