Air Ambulance

Is there a state or humanitarian run air ambulance outfit in the DR? If not, how are trauma or emergency care patients transported around the country or to the US for emergency medical procedures? The road system does not permit rapid response to critical medical 'events'.

Only in exceptional cases, emergency care patients will be transported by the military helicopters. It is possible that the sponsors of the medical treatment in the US will pay for the air ambulance that can fly into one of the country's airports so that the drive may not be so long. Note that in the DR most trauma victims are transported by taxi. There are private ambulance services for those that can afford these (Movimed, SOS, etc.)
