Renovating Visas

Im not too good with the legal aspect of the Dominican Republic. My friend has a visa which will expire in about 2 weeks. can he renovate it here in the US or does he have to travel back? What should he do? Thanks

I'm confused (it comes easy). Are you asking about a visa to come to the US? If so, than you need to be concerned with US law and not DR law.

no he has a visa and he is visiting here the visa was granted to him by the US consulated in DR does he have to go back over there to renovate it ?

It may depend on what type of visa he was issued. You need to contact INS in the US or you may find some information here:


Your friend needs to be careful. If he overstays his visa, the chances of him being granted another one is remote. Being that he only has two week before his visa is about to expire, he may want to contact an immigration lawyer in the US.
