A story in today?s, Saturday, Listin Diario, digital version, under the line ?Ordenan reembarcar autos fabricados hace m?s 5 a?os"; it reports that Dominican Customs will seize unclaimed vehicles (at port storage yards) over 5 years old and salvage vehicles (junkers). The notice gives owners ten days to reship the vehicles before they are seized.

Customs notes the importation of these vehicles is prohibited.

The story also says prohibited household electronics not reshipped will be seized. Please note: the article did not elaborate much on the electronics, so.... it leaves one grasping for more information.

I think that it is prohibited to import used appliances.

It is unfortunate that customs is persuing these projects at this time, when almost all importers are trying to get their Christmas shipments in and there is a huge log-jam at customs causing inconvenience to consumers and losses for resellers.
