I should know the answer to this but I don't. Is it customary to give presents on Christmas Day or on Three Kings Day?

It is customary for children who do not receive presents on Christmas Day (Noche Buena) or Three Kings Day (Reyes), to receive a 'consolation' present on Vieja Bel?n Day (Granny Bethlehem Day - Saturday after Reyes).

IIRC Pib once told me that in Montecristi gifts are given on Dec. 24th, unlike the rest of the country where it is indeed Jan 6th (Three Kings Day).

Is it also correct that only children get gifts or is it just my family?

From what I have seen...

At work, adults play the "angelito", does it count as christmas presents? In my dominican friends families, everybody has at least one present under the tree. Less fortunate families receive gifts for their kids from bosses and coworkers. Maids receive monetary help, food and/or presents for the kids from the families they work for.
