I dont think you will find that here. I did hear there was a weekly no limit hold em tournament in Playa Dorado with a buy in of 5,000 pesos but I doubt it attracts more than a couple dozen people. Maybe someone can confirm this for you.

Usually 10-12 players, sometimes less.

No, you asked without limitation as to where. In the DR with that type of buy-in sounds very unlikely. Rip-off the gringo keno is regrettably popular though.

Howmar, how would you judge the quality of the players?

Larry
2 or 3 very good
2 or 3 good
5 or 6 dead money.
On the relative scale I feel I fall in the good range.

Yes, you are a good player. I would like to play one night, especially if half the players are donkeys. Maybe in Janurary. Fridays right?

Do the have a tournament every week? Do you know what day of the week and what time they play?
The tournament has been every Friday night. It is scheduled for 9:00PM. They have been pretty prompt since they want to start the regular game after the tournament.

Howmar,

What is the blind structure like in the tounament? Is it fair? Some tournaments have a poor blind structure where they raise the blinds too quickly and by the time there are just a few players left, the blinds are disproportionate to the chip stacks. In those cases, towards the end of the tournament, there is no real poker played. Each hand is just a matter of pushing all in or folding. I refuse to play in tournaments like this. Especially for a 5K buy-in.

For your 5K buy-in you get 50K in chips. If I remember correctly the blinds start at 100/200. They double every 15 minutes. The prize structure is 75% of the prize pool to the winner and 25% to second place. With 10 players that is 37,500 and 12,500. There is no entry fee or rake. The blinds progress pretty quickly as they want the tournament over in a couple of hours so that the regular game(where they make their money) can begin.

slightly off topic

I am going to Hotel Naco Casino on Tiradentes here in the capital tonight to play. Does anyone ever play there? I am not crazy about playing there because they use antees instead of blinds but I need a little action.

If anyone wants to pop by, I will be the bald guy with all the chips in front of him :).
