For my trip coming in January Im going with a couple of friends and plan to check out the Casino scene for the 1st time since traveling there over 15 times in 3 years, which I never had desire to before. I know Playa Dorada has a casino but I stopped by there but I did not see any black jack being played last time I was down there, which is me and my friends game favorite game. I know Cabarete has a couple of Casinos but Im looking for good ones at least of like Atlantic City quality here in the US.

Any good Casinos around Puerto Plata, Cabarete, Sosua area?

The American Casino at Jack Tar Village in Playa Dorado is the only 100% legitimate casino in the area. The only casino with video of every table. If a dispute arises, the management will allow access to the tapes. As far a blackjack, All the cards are displayed at the beginning of the day. The complete decks are there. They have blackjack from 4:00 PM to 3:00AM every day. Minimum bet is 150 pesos. Differing from Atlantic City, they allow surrender.ronaldobklyn said:

It's just east of Cabarete, you can't miss it, it has a huge bright sign. Looks like a little tiny Ceasars Palace.Tamborista said:
Actually, I've never been in a Dominican casino so I don't know how big they are. I've watch it being build over the past year, as it is right by my house. I will not be seeing the finished product until the 29th when I return to Cabarete. I'm really looking forward to seeing it. Breezes
We are big fans of blackjack and we were at Breezes in Nov. We left after the dealer had 6 of 8 hands when she had black jack. I have never seen that before and I won't in the future either as we will never go into Breezes again.

There was supposed to be a new casino opening in Sosua back in december I think it was by the beach..

I think you are referring to the one at the main entrance to the beach, kitty corner to La Roca. Still under construction - looks like a great deal of work needs to still be done...tomnorthbound said:

The casino in Cabarete was built by a guy from Los Vegas and the brought people from Vegas in to set everything up including the eye in the sky. There is a full set up of games, rulette, black jack, etc. I talked to one of the guys seting it up, he was at the hotel we stasyed at, He told me the slots were losser the Vegas and the owner new he would make money because he was te only real casino around. He would pay out a little more, but make much more in the end. don't konow if it's true but we went a it looks right. I won some, my wife lost some, we had a good time. That's our take.
I am staying in sosua, what is the name of this casino so I can tell the taxi driver/ how long/how much should ride cost?
Didn't like breezes that much, however I did like Jack tar
