I've heard people talk about DR and they make Dominicans sound like they are all poor barrio dwellers who dream about coming to the USA or other first world nation for a better life. However there is not much mention of Dominicans who are doing well in DR. There are a lot of Dominicans who make more money than people who live in first world nations. They live in nice houses, drive luxury SUV or other luxury vehicles:ermm: . These well to do Domincans only come to USA or other first world nations as tourists. They have absolutely no desire whatsoever to live outside of DR. Why should they? They have it better in DR in terms of taxes, cost of living, weather, and lifestyle and they know it.
When you ask the question how is the situation in DR ?
you will get different answers it all depends on who you ask. If you ask how is the situation in DR ? to a person who is unemployed or is barely making ends meet, what do you think they are going to tell you? of course they are going to tell you that the situation is bad because they are not doing well themselves. However if you ask the same question to a Dominican who just sold a real estate property for 10,000,000 pesos, he is going to tell you that things are going pretty good in DR. The bottom line is,the type of advice that you get depends on the personal situation of the person you ask.

Indiana, there are many threads about incomes, standard of living etc here on DR1. There are stats, norms and basics about this, i.e what is middleclass vv income, bnp etc.
There are official ( and public ) stats, censuses, demographics, ecomical views, poverty etc for DR as well as for any country, that is based on a standard format.

A personal opinion, yes you will get that from anyone you ask, and based upon the specific persons opinion and experiences in life.
