In another thread Keith R. mentioned the new Consumer Protection Law. Rather than hijack his thread, I thought I'd post the question here.

Does anyone know anything about this law?

Keith, thanks for the info. I look forward to the point-by-point summary.

I guess it's sucess will depend on if the government actually funds the "Pro-Consumidor".

I can't imagine how a consumer protection law would work. Its more difficult getting the authorities to perform at the level they are expected to than the person/firm you are dealing with to begin.

I have found the best personal comsumer protection plan here is to get three quotes, tell the one I select to drop their price by 20%, and offer a bonus if they get the job done when they say they will. Of course, I always hold most of the payment until the job is completed and I am satisfied.
