So you want to play Texas Hold Em, eh. There will be a full tournament held at the Breezes from the 16th-19th. Thursday, friday, saturday, sunday.

1st prize is; $50,000.00 US plus a seat at the World Poker Tour. ( worth $ 10,000 ). 2nd is $30,000. 3rd is 15,000. 4th is 6,000. 5th is 5,200. and so on. It will pay out all the way to 15th place which would be $3,000.

Buy in will be $2,500.00 departing from Miami, Florida. It includes accommodations, food, beverages, etc at the Breezes.

If you are in the D.R. buy in is $2,000.00 and I imagine it would include room and board, also.

If others have questions either post here or contact me.

And I will be there, too. John

Looking at the prize structure, it appears that their break-even point is around 100 players. With the lack of local games, the majority of players are going to have to be brought in. Will this tournament go with a small field?

Sorry people. The tournament is March 16th to the 19th.

The tournament is definetly on. The subscription rate for their efforts has already been met. Obviously, the more players the higher the payouts. As of now the prize money comes to a total of $ 140,000 plus and also the entrance fee at the WPT.

Brochures for sign up and additional info are available. Or I can be reached at duhtree@aol.com By phone: 954-608-0200

Will Breezes hold satellites leading up to the tournment so one can possibly win a seat thereby avoiding having to shell out the $2,000? (Assuming you live in the DR)?

Sorry, Larry. No satellites. For clarity, the Breezes is not " holding " the tournament. It's being held by the same people that have the sport book inside the casino. They handle all the traditional sporting events as well as thorough bred horse racing.

Great news!

I had heard as well that the new casino is having a qualifying event and also that there's a big event in Sto Dgo, also a qualifyer. Anyone have details on that?

Good luck with the registration -- I'm definitely thinking about it.

Another question: Will Breezes Casino have enough side tables and dealers in place to handle the side games generated when people bust out of the tournament?

Also, to clarify: the prize money per finishing place goes up the more people register, but still only the top 15 get paid, correct? Does anyone have a percentage breakdown?

I, too, would be very interested to hear about this.

What "new casino" are you talking about?

The one in Cabarete -- "Ocean Sands" or something.

I heard it 3rd or fourth hand, so it may be a case of the telephone game where someone starts out talking about the Breezes event and it turns into a local event which turns in to a cabarete event which turns into the new casino event. Any details/confirmation/clarification would be welcome.

As for the Sto Dgo event, info at

www.cardplayer.com/poker_news/detail.php?p_id=757

But that one's a re-buy event, which doesn't interest me as much.

Again, though, will there be enough tables and dealers to handle the spill-over?

Thanks for the info, let me know if you hear anything more on the qualifying event for the Breezes tourney.

Sorry for the absence. Busy, busy, busy. Antique watch and jewelry show in Miami Beach just about wore me out.

Nothing has changed. The dates are the same, etc. Will be getting the brochures and applications wed. or thurs. of this week. The sh*t is on!! John

Sorry to repeat and rephrase the same question:

I understand there's not going to be lead-up satellites and I also understand that it's not the casino per se but rather the sportsbook groups putting on the event.

That being said: will there be enough tables and dealers to accommodate all the side games generated when people get busted out of the tournament?

Best of luck in either case!

In tournaments I've played, as players bust, tables are consolidated, leaving open tables and dealers. Why would this be any different?

Might be different because the casino itself isn't doing the tournament, so not sure how side tables would work.

Just want to make sure that when I lose my buy-in, there's a chance to get it back on the side games ;)

Hello. Allow me to bring everything up to speed. The tournament will be held in the Breezes convention space which is upstairs. They are bringing in enough dealers to have side games, as well as, the main tourney. And yes, Howmar is correct. As players get broke the tables get consolidated and the dealers then go to the side games.

Buy in for those in the D.R. is $ 2000.00 U.S.

For those living further away than is convient to commute they can avail themselves of a package consisting of housing, drinks, meals for an additional $200.

Buy ins have to be posted no later then the end of Feb. A non refundable deposit may also be posted if one rather not post 100%.

Accomadations will be at several different locations aswell as the breezes. Sosua Bay; Sea Horse Ranch; the Capital at the Eldorado Resort.
Clearly, these alternate sites are mostly for players "rated " or those who post accounts with the off shore casino and like to wager on sporting events or play online for cash.

Buyin for someone in the States, flying from Miami, Fla. is $2500.00. And includes all. Air; accommadations; food; drinks; etc.

If you want to register in the D.R. there is a different number to use then if you are registering in the States.

As of now, there will be no buyins on site at the start of the tournament.

Hope these answers help. John
