    Lightbulb Speaking of Weddings

I thought it would be interesting to learn all the things connected with a wedding in Spanish.

I'll start a list and everyone jump in and tell us what these things are called and add whatever else you can think of.

    The Bride

    The Groom

    Best man

    Matron of honor

    Wedding

    Wedding ceremony or mass

    Wedding gown and veil

    Bride's maids

    Flower girl

    Ring bearer

    Tuxedo

    Engagement ring

    Wedding ring

    Wedding album (fotos)

    Bridal bouquet

    Invitations

    Reception

    Wedding Cake

    What else?

bride's maids = damas (usually the bride's best girl friends or sisters)
bridal bouquet = ramo de novia
wedding ring, is also "el aro"
wedding album = album de boda
tuxedo = traje de pingüino (jeje)
flower girl = damita (usually a lil girl)
ring bearer = pajesito (usually a lil boy)

Chiri: in spanish paje is used to refer a male.

    Default Can I try?

    Some suggestions:

Best man - el padrino: NOT NECESSARILY...EL MEJOR AMIGO DEL NOVIO. EL PADRINO WOULD BE THE ONE THAT ACTUALLY PAYS FOR THE WEDDING...at least as is done in most Latin American countries, and also in the Italian tradition, right Anna?

Matron of honor - la madrina: La dama de honor

Bridesmaids - los pages: Las damas de compañía

Bridal bouquet - la rama: El ramo de novia

The padrino pays for the drinks and the madrina pays for the bizcocho.

I have been to weddings in the DR where the bride uses a garter that the guy takes off with his teeth and I have been to weddings in the DR where this doesn't happen. I guess it's not so much a tradition but more of a personal choice.
