ferry service from P.R. to D.R.

I have heard that there is a ferry service from Mayaguez, Puerto Rico to the D.R.. Can anyone confrim this and maybe have some additonal information?

My Father In Law lives in PR and came with his car in December.

Its about 18 hours on the boat if I recall. Dunno Costs etc............
