The question should be, has it ever been illegal? The Voice said:I was just wondering, when did abortions become legal in DR?
Rocky said:I never knew it to be illegal, but I know very little about the country before arriving here.
Isn't it more of a Catholic church thing?
Threads as recent as last year seem to indicate that abortions are illegal, albeit regularly performed. The Voice said:I'm not sure, the only reason why I asked was because I saw an old thread where DR1 members were stating that abortions were illegal. This thread was in 2001.

If you want a definitive answer, you may want to re-post your question in the legal forum.

Just go to a chinese store and get you some self abortion inducing tea.The Voice said:Thanks for the link, but this thread was in 2002. Could the law have changed by now? I have heard people say that it is legal, and I now people who have done it. But I'm not sure if they had an abortion legally or illegally. I am getting mixed reports.
