I am planning on sailing to Luperon from the Bahamas in March for an extended stay. Any advice on anchoring spots, dinghy access, good bars, restaurants, wireless internet access or internet cafe~~~~~~ would be appreciated, Muchas Gracias ( also help with my espan'ol !!!!)

Luperon is very basic, but a safe anchorage. The holding is not excellent as it is a little muddy, but you?ll soon find the old-timers there, than can advise on good anchoring configurations.

There is dingy access to the government dock and to the yacht club. Luperon is small and you'll soon find the places to hang out.

Be sure to approach the entrance to the harbor in the morning. Kinda head for Haiti and make your way down the coast to arrive in the morning. Just a little later, anytime from 11 or 12 onwards, the winds blow up, the waves blow up and the sail becomes really uncomfortable.

You need to be aware of personal and boat safety. Again, talk to the long-timers who can advise you of what to do to keep your vessel and yourselves safe. Check in with the harbor captain, keep all your documentation in a safe place and enjoy.
