I asked Arjan from Dunhill Systems to put together some pricing for me.
They offer great service here in the DR and you can learn more about their services at the link below, plus more info on the systems below.

I'm told that the NERA Satlink system is by far the best, then again, it's the most expensive :)

DW6000 - US$ $500-1000 depends on contract.
Cheap system, nice for simple internet browsing, but DirecWay stopped the activations on the caribbean satellites, sometimes we can "takeover" a contract, very bad and slow upload.
Download speeds (according to DW): 1000k , upload 20-80k
Normal speeds (tested): Download +/- 350k, upload 5-30k
Monthly US$69 and up.

DW7000 - US$1500-2500 depends on contract.
Latest model, middle priced system, can be activated in the Caribbean, but needs a very big dish 1.8-2.4m to get a stable signal (with additional transportation costs $1500-2000), still lacks stable upload speeds, SIP-VOIP is almost not possible, due to over crowded systems.
Download speeds (according to DW): 1000k , Upload 50-128k
Normal speeds (tested): Download +/- 600k, upload 10-50k
Monthly $99 and up.

NERA Satlink - US$4,420 Installed
Professional system, quite expensive, uses a small 1.2m dish
All kind of gadgets work right away, 98% stable connection, lot of options as, accelerators, networking, SIP-VOIP etc etc.
Download speeds (specs): 1536k , Upload 512k
Normal speeds (tested): Download 1300-2000k, upload 480-540k
Monthly $399.
