Hello,

I was wondering if anyone would know the start and end to the raining season in the Caribbeans.

Thanks,

Generally the coastal areas will get a short tropical shower almost daily in the evening or at night. And the 'rainy season' varies a little, depending on which coast you are on. On the North Coast, we have a little more rain from October to around January and on the South Coast, there is a little more rain from around May to October.

When it rains, it is usually a brief tropical shower - usually not much more than half and hour. Sometimes we get short sun-showers with a little rain coming down, while still in bright sunlight. At times, there could be a raincloud over one town or city, while the next one is dry.

This is for the Dominican Republic, and not for the Caribbean. :classic:

When I started living here in 1986 there were rainy seasons. Farmers planned on certain months for rain and others for sun, and it almost always worked out this way. Now, just as the weather has changed in recent years all over the world, it has changed here. The sort of rainy seasons we used to have are no more.

There is no rainy season in the DR.
Summer months, on the average get more than the winter months, but there is not enough of a difference to call it a rainy season.
Everytime we have a lengthy rainy period, people say it's the rainy season.
Well, if it is, it's never at the same time, from year to year.
