Has anyone done this recently? What's the prodedure?

Mr C (a Dominican citizen) has to renew his US visa but the embassy site only mentions renewals in reference to minors.

You have to go to Banco Popular and purchase a Cita, I think.

Ignorant on this, sorry.

In January.........

...........a friend of mine renewed his 10 year visa. You have to buy a "pin" number at BPD and then make your appointment by calling the Visa information number. You need the "pin" number when calling. ($16.00 for a few minutes of time). Then you also have to pay the $100.00 +- fee also at BPD. You must bring that receipt with you to the interview.

ALL renewals are now the same.....No automatic drop off of passport as in the past for 10 year visa renewals.

BUT, the difference seemed to be:

1. If you had a 5 or a 10 year visa that you were renewing, they basically took your passport...........told you to wait a while..............called you back for fingerprints...........then told you to come back the next day to pick up your visa................NO QUESTIONS, NO INTERVEW, NO REQUESTING OF DOCUMENTS........(ALTHOUGH HE WAS PREPARED WITH ALL). His visa was reissued for 10 years...........

2. Those that did not have long term visa's seemed to have to go through the whole interview, present your documents procedure etc.............

Hope that helps.............

(p.s. once your there and they call everyone for your time appointment.......they then seem to take the 5 and 10 year visa renewal people and send them to a different window).
