you can read about the plane crash on dr1.com news or in listin on the web. but i just heard that in practically the same area this afternoon there was a bus crash with a bus to santo domingo with several dead (not caribe tours). can anyone confirm that? if so, that's pretty bizarre unless the bus driver was watching the plane crash and crashed himself???

There even was a second airplane accident almost at the same time and airport.
One engine failed on a twin engine aircraft but the pilot managed to land.
One wheel was damaged but no passengers were injured.

http://www.elnacional.com.do/app/article.aspx?id=48466
mentions a Cessna 172 (which is single engine) and a twin engined aircraft (call sign HI-400CT).
The latter is said to have crashed shortly after take-off from Aroyo Barril according to
http://www.prensaescrita.com/diarios.php?referer=none&url=none&pagina=http://www.listin.com.do
Interesting is one of the comments in
http://www.diariolibre.com/app/article.aspx?id=57673
which gives a possible reason for the accident of the plane which alledgedly was supposed to collect passengers from Portillo airfield.
So questions remain - as always.

Bus/plane accidents

I saw the remains of the bus crash on the way back from a whale watching tour.
It was not a large bus - but was a gua-gua, it looked as if it had rolled over a few times as the top was crushed in quite a bit. Don't have any info on how many aboard or on the extent of injuires, but I'm sure anyone on board was injuired as it looked bad.
Also saw part of the plane loaded on the back of a flat bed truck - again looked like a bad crash.
It sure is a good reminder to enjoy each day we have - you just never know !!

On a more uplifting note - Happy Valentine's Day to all.

Was the Santo Domingo - Samana public bus in his way back from the capital.
No deads fortunatelly, but several people get injured, they left with 3 taxis to Santiago hospital.
