So, what is life like living in either P.Plata or Santiago.
I am getting a bit tired of the Sosua area (although P.Plata so close).

Are things a bit more "real" there as far as a living? As opposed to the high tourist area of Sosua?

Any pros/cons to living in either?

As the Chief Supporter of Santiago as a Place to Live I like it here.

However, life is what you make of it.

Each of the two cities has an awful lot going for it and living in one does not exclude taking advantage of what the other has to offer. They are only an hour or so apart by good roads.

Santiago is, by far, a "real" Dominican city. They receive visitors as just that, but they don't go ga-ga over the presence of tourists. Life here is full if you want it to be.

But you need to speak Spanish to garner friends of a "certain quality" ...

Thanks

Thanks for the response. Just wondering if one is any better for business-non tourist related-and if Santiago is less expensive to live in.

I have also heard that some retailers purchase their goods in Santiago as opposed to S.Domingo-would make life so much easier-the capitol is just too busy for me.

Love PoP and nice to know that only an hour away for Santiago is great.
